Student Volunteers
Student Volunteers
(SVs) are a very important part of the GROUP conference. Volunteers--both
students and other staff--handle much of the behind-the-scenes activity, and
are imperative for making the conference run smoothly. It is a great
opportunity for students to meet their peers at other institutions, as well
as other long-standing researchers in the community. In return for free
registration and some free food, SVs are required to do about 15 hours of
work immediately before and during the conference. All hours will be assigned
on-site at the conference, where we will try to balance your preferences with
our coverage needs. The tasks SVs do include checking badges, supporting
workshop and tutorial leaders, helping conference speakers with last minute
requests, A/V support, helping conference attendees find ways around the
conference venue, etc. We have limited space,
so sign up early! SVs are responsible for their transportation and hotel. To volunteer or to get
further information, please contact the Local Arrangements Chair. Last Updated on August 3rd, 2001.
